I've always felt like something was living in my throat. A presence that wasn't supposed to be there. Something, or someone disturbing me.
My chiropractor says I'm carrying too much tension in my neck. That my neck is unusually long and has to work harder to support my head.
But what if my neck is long because there's a little man living inside it? What if he simply likes high ceilings?

Instead of asking, "What's wrong with me?" this painting asks a different question: "What if I became curious instead?" What if I stopped trying to get rid of it and started getting curious instead?

Built up through many layers and different structures, the painting creates a tactile surface that hints at something hidden beneath. It plays with inside and outside, up and down, body and imagination, inviting the viewer to question where the physical ends and the symbolic begins.
